加油喔！ hang in there!

工作上我們最常說或聽到的一句話，就是「加油！」，尤其是知道別人每天加班、快要掛掉的時候。中文裡用「加油」，可能是因為把人生或工作比擬為一場賽車，再加點油、衝刺一下就會到終點了；但英文裡則沒有這樣的形容法，意思比較接近的是”hang in there!”

當然，這句話並不是說人就「掛在」那兒，而是形容人好像在吊繩索，要從這一端盪到另一端，可能已經快要撐不住了，但一鬆手，就會摔落萬丈深淵，所以不妨「先撐著點」，喘口氣，再努力往前，總會到目的地的！

andy：i don’t remember when was it last time that i arrived home before midnight. i’ve been working like a dog for months and yet this project just never seems to end.

andy：記不得我上次12點前回到家是什麼時候的事了。一連好幾個月忙得像條狗一樣，可是這個案子好像永遠都不會結束似的。

jesse：oh, you really have my sympathy. i can tell you’ve been under so much pressure lately. i have to say that having a boss that changes his mind every 10 minutes certainly makes things even worse.

jesse：噢，我真是同情你。看得出來你最近壓力真的很大。而且，老實說有個每10分鐘就轉變心意的老闆，更是雪上加霜。

andy：speaking of whom, this morning, he just changed the whole plan we’d been working on for nearly 1 month. i really wish someone could get me out of this.

andy：提到他，今天早上他才把我們已經做了將近一個月的案子又改了。天啊，真希望有人可以救我脫離苦海.

jesse：hey, hang in there! i heard there is going to be a restructuring of personnel soon, your suffering will soon be over.

jesse：嘿，加油喔！我聽說最近會有人事改組，你的苦難很快就會結束了呢。

andy：well, i can only look on the bright side now. in the mean time, you just keep praying that i won’t just “drop”.

andy：現在我也只能往光明面看囉。至於現在呢，你只能祈禱我不會就這樣掛了！

jesse：no, you won’t. i’ m sure you’ll make it through!

jesse：不會啦！你一定會撐過去的！
